■Background
Mitsubishi Motors has been conducting security monitoring and operations, including incident investigations and vulnerability monitoring, across a wide range of IT environments, including global locations and affiliated companies. Recently, with the expansion of the IT environment and the increasing complexity of the supply chain, the number of externally exposed assets that the company cannot fully grasp and manage has been increasing. Furthermore, cyberattacks targeting these assets are also on the rise, so the company introduced an ASM tool in 2023. However, as the operation progressed, it became clear that in order to further enhance risk management, an environment was needed that would allow for more efficient use of asset and risk information and a comprehensive understanding of externally exposed assets, leading to the consideration of a new ASM tool.

Previously, even when asset and risk information was received, the relationships between which assets and which risks were linked were not organized, requiring users to manually cross-reference vast amounts of data, resulting in lengthy identification processes. "ANTERAS ASM" was praised for its ability to visualize detected assets and risks in a linked manner on a portal, enabling centralized management from prioritization to response status.

■ Implemented effects
After implementation, the system enabled highly accurate asset detection, allowing us to visualize previously unidentified publicly available assets and critical risks. Furthermore, by utilizing the portal, we were able to prioritize countermeasures based on the urgency and importance of risks, and pinpoint requests for action to the relevant personnel at the appropriate locations, resulting in more efficient operations. As a result, we were able to reduce the time required from risk identification to requesting action by more than 10 hours per case.

■Future Outlook
At Mitsubishi Motors, risks detected by "ANTERAS ASM" are currently managed by notifying the person in charge at each location and requesting them to take action. However, in the future, with the aim of reducing the burden on the person in charge, they are considering introducing "ANTERAS ASM Assist ^*2," which will support the entire process from detection of critical risks to completion. By entrusting part of the operation to specialists at Macnica, they aim to create a system that will allow the security team to focus on more advanced strategic planning and strengthening company-wide governance.
