Macnica (Head office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) announced today that it has begun offering the new "ASM Entry Service" and "ASM Alert Triage Service," leveraging its knowledge as the company with the largest share of the ASM market* ¹, in the ASM (Attack Surface Management) field to support companies that are unable to undertake ASM due to a lack of budget or resources, and companies that have introduced ASM tools and services but are not making full use of them. This will enable continuous risk reduction through ASM, regardless of company size or security maturity level.

■The growing importance of ASM
In recent years, the number of cyberattacks has been increasing, with many of them being intrusions via vulnerable publicly available assets. In particular, a ransomware attack on a major Japanese company in September 2025 infiltrated the company via network equipment installed within the group, encrypting multiple servers and severely impacting business activities.
As such, there are still many vulnerabilities remaining in carelessly exposed remote desktops (RDP) and VPN devices and servers, and attacks exploiting these vulnerabilities are continuing. As a result, the importance of ASM, which comprehensively understands a company's publicly exposed assets and continuously manages and addresses risks, is increasing, and an increasing number of companies are considering introducing it.

■Challenges in ASM implementation and operation
However, because ASM tools and services require extensive and continuous investigation of publicly available assets, most contracts are based on the premise of continuous use. This leaves small and medium-sized enterprises with insufficient security budgets, or companies that want to implement ASM only on a few critical assets, in a situation where they feel the need for ASM but are unable to get started due to a lack of budget and resources.
Even when ASM tools and services are introduced, there are many cases where a huge number of risks are detected and the volume of alerts becomes overwhelming. Because ASM generates a wide variety of asset detection information and alerts, it is not easy for a company to determine on its own the actual level of risk and the extent of the response that should be taken. This can lead to situations such as "Even when looking at the information, I don't know what to judge, how to proceed, or where to start," or "I tried to take action, but it turned out to be a false positive." As a result, there are many cases where alerts are left unaddressed, or excessive responses increase the on-site workload.

■New services related to ASM
Since 2021, Macnica has been providing its in-house developed ASM solution, Macnica ASM ^*2, and has repeatedly proposed and provided it to many customers. Utilizing the knowledge accumulated in this process, we will provide two new services to support the resolution of issues in the introduction and operation of ASM.

① "ASM Entry Service" to address implementation budget and resource shortages
This ASM is designed for small-scale starters, narrowing down the scope of investigation to vulnerabilities deemed high risk for domains and IP addresses specified by the customer, and discovering and notifying them. By limiting investigations to the necessary scope, it is possible to efficiently and inexpensively grasp the security risks of publicly available assets. It continuously monitors the risks of assets important to your company's business and helps prevent serious incidents from occurring.

② "ASM Alert Triage Service" that handles alert response decisions and operational burdens
This is a service that supports the judgment and response of detected alerts for companies that have introduced and are using ASM tools and services other than Macnica ASM.Security experts involved in ASM operations at various companies will review and examine the risks and asset information detected by the ASM tools and services you are using, and present the following points in a categorized form.

✓ Realistic risk assessment and response priorities
✓ Measures to be taken (from temporary to permanent)
✓ Proposal of alternative measures and workarounds

It prevents alert fatigue in ASM operations and supports effective risk response.
