(Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Manabu Chikumoto, hereinafter referred to as "Mitsubishi Chemical") has announced the development of Macnica Attack Surface Management (hereinafter referred to as Macnica), an in-house developed solution of Macnica ASM).

■Background
In recent years, cyber attacks stemming from publicly disclosed assets have been increasing, targeting affiliated companies and overseas subsidiaries with inadequate security measures. Mitsubishi Chemical, one of Japan's largest diversified chemical manufacturers with numerous affiliated companies both in Japan and overseas, was also facing the issue of inadequate asset management and control at many of its group companies.
Because the management of publicly available assets was a manual process, collecting and checking vulnerability information was a heavy burden for the person in charge, limiting the comprehensiveness and speed of response. Checking managed IP addresses individually did not allow for complete countermeasures for high-risk targets, and it was determined that continuous operation would be difficult. Therefore, the introduction of a solution specialized in External Attack Surface Management (EASM) became an urgent need.

■Reasons for choosing Macnica ASM
Macnica ASM is a solution that Macnica proprietary and provides a comprehensive analysis of the publicly available assets and risks of target companies and their group companies to prevent critical incidents such as ransomware.
