In recent years, cyberattack methods have changed to target publicly exposed assets that have not yet been protected, such as intrusions via carelessly exposed RDP and exploitation of vulnerabilities in VPN devices and servers, and Attack Surface Management (ASM), which comprehensively understands and deals with a company's publicly exposed assets and the risks they pose, has been attracting attention. In particular, since the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced its ASM implementation guidance in May 2023, ASM has attracted attention, and the number of users and companies considering its implementation is increasing.

Macnica ASM is a solution that leverages the unique knowledge of the Macnica Security Research Center to conduct a comprehensive investigation of assets, including those that are not yet known, and a risk investigation that takes into account the trends of attackers. It is possible to identify assets including overseas bases, such as domains and stray servers that customers themselves do not know, and to effectively deal with high-risk assets based on our own risk indicators that take into account the trends of attackers. In addition, we are focusing on expanding functions, such as developing a method for securely identifying vulnerabilities in VPN devices from the outside and a web portal designed specifically for ASM operation.

In this survey, Macnica ASM ranked first with a 37.5% share ^{* 4} of ASM sales revenue in fiscal year 2023. It is estimated that the company is expected to maintain a 30.0% share ^{* 4} in fiscal year 2024.

Cybersecurity attacks that exploit externally exposed assets are expected to continue in the future. Macnica will continue to expand its valuable capabilities and provide Macnica ASM to many companies, thereby reducing the probability of incidents caused by externally exposed assets by as much as 1%.
