Macnica Acquires Macnica Attack Surface Management Solution, which ranks first in the ASM market share for the second consecutive year

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter referred to as Macnica) is pleased to announce that Macnica Attack Surface Management (hereinafter referred to as Macnica ASM) provided by Macnica has been selected by Fuji Chimera Research Institute^{, Inc.*1}. We are pleased to announce today that we have won the No. 1 market share in the ASM tool market for the second consecutive year (FY2022 and FY2023 results, vendor share) and the No. 1 share in the attack surface management service market of ITR ^*2 Co., Ltd. for the second consecutive year (FY2022 and FY2023 results, sales by vendor).

In recent years, the methods of cyber attacks have changed from attacks via the web/email, for which each company has taken measures, to attacks targeting publicly exposed assets for which measures have not been taken, such as intrusions via carelessly exposed RDP and exploitation of vulnerabilities in VPN devices and servers. As a result, attention has been drawn to Attack Surface Management (ASM), which comprehensively grasps and deals with a company's publicly exposed assets and the risks they pose, and the number of companies working on this and vendors providing solutions is increasing.

In June 2021, Macnica was one of the first Japan companies to launch its own Macnica ASM. Macnica ASM is a solution that utilizes the unique knowledge of the Macnica Security Research Center to conduct a comprehensive investigation of assets, including those that are not yet known, and a risk investigation that takes into account the trends of attackers. It is possible to identify assets including overseas bases, such as domains and stray servers that customers themselves do not know, and to effectively deal with high-risk assets based on our own risk indicators that take into account the trends of attackers. In addition, we are focusing on expanding functions, such as developing a method for securely identifying vulnerabilities in VPN devices from the outside and a web portal designed specifically for ASM operation.

Cybersecurity attacks that exploit externally exposed assets are expected to continue in the future. Macnica will continue to provide Macnica ASM to many companies and strive to reduce the probability of incidents caused by externally exposed assets by as much as 1%.
