Up to 140W buck-boost DCDC for operation in harsh environments

Vicor (Headquarters: Massachusetts, USA, CEO: Patrizio Vinciarelli, hereinafter referred to as Vicor) has developed a non-isolated buck-boost DC-DC converter PI3740 with a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to 115°C (Tj) and tin -Added a new one for the Lead BGA package. The PI3740 is a high power density, high efficiency buck-boost switching regulator with an input voltage range of 8 to 60V and an output voltage range of 10 to 50V. It is a 10 x 14 mm SiP (System in Package) type regulator that integrates a control circuit, MOSFET, and other parts, and has a maximum output of 140W, and can be used in parallel to further increase power. It uses Vicor's proprietary Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology to achieve high efficiency (up to 96%) even under large input-to-output differential conditions. In addition, a current sense amplifier is installed inside, and a constant current circuit can be easily configured.

<Application example>

■ Backup power supply (12V 50W or 24V 100W) from LiION battery (12V to 48V)

■ DC motor drive power supply from battery (torque is ensured by keeping drive voltage constant)

■ Constant current circuit for LED lighting

* What is ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) control? Using the resonance phenomenon when switching power elements (MOSFETs, etc.), switching is performed in a state where the voltage becomes zero, thereby physically reducing the switching loss due to the transient crossing of the voltage. As a result, the control enables fast switching video without sacrificing conversion efficiency.
