Product Summary

The Si86Px family is an isolated power supply isolator that integrates a digital isolator and an isolated DC-DC converter into a single package.
By combining the conventional "signal isolator + isolated DC/DC power supply for the secondary side" configuration into a single Si86Px, it contributes to reducing the number of components, miniaturizing the circuit board, and simplifying the design.
Thanks to its built-in isolated DC-DC converter, it can supply up to 0.5 W (peak) of isolated power to the secondary side using only the power input from the primary side.
The secondary side ADC and logic circuits can be configured without using an external power supply.

The signal isolation channels are available in 2-channel and 4-channel configurations, and various variations with different input/output directions are also available, allowing support for a wide range of interfaces, including SPI and various control signals.

This product family is suitable for a wide range of applications that require both signal isolation and secondary power supply, such as industrial equipment, PLCs, motor controls, and inverters.

  • The built-in isolated DC-DC converter allows for the generation of a 3.3/5.0 V secondary power supply (maximum 0.5 W peak).
  • A thermal protection function that detects overheating in the power transmission section and shuts off power transmission in the event of an abnormality on either the input or output side.
  • The timeout function periodically shuts down the primary side even if feedback stops due to secondary side abnormalities or noise, preventing overheating and device degradation.
  • For overvoltage protection, an active clamping circuit on the secondary side limits the output voltage fluctuation to within 10%, protecting the external load.

Isolation configuration for SPI communication using Si86Px

This circuit example uses Si86Px to isolate signals from SPI communication and to the secondary circuit.

This is an example of a configuration that simultaneously supplies power.

The built-in isolated DC-DC converter controls the secondary AD converter.

It can be powered without an external power supply.

Evaluation Board
