Advances in IoT technology and market expansion are leading to an increase in devices equipped with data communication functions.
In particular, many small IoT devices, security equipment, and industrial sensors run on primary batteries, and so there is a demand for low power consumption to extend battery life, with current consumption during sleep mode being a particular issue.In addition, there is also a demand for noise reduction to prevent transmission errors during data communication.
This product achieves ultra-low current consumption Iq = 70nA (1/4 of Nisshinbo Micro Devices' conventional products), and extends battery life through highly efficient power conversion in sleep mode, contributing to long-term operation of devices. In addition, it is equipped with a "low ripple mode" to reduce noise, which can be easily switched with the MODE terminal. The low ripple and excellent load transient response characteristics suppress transmission errors during data communication. In addition, it adopts a PWM/PFM automatic switching control method, which automatically switches to PFM when the load current is small and to PWM when the load is large, achieving efficient power supply.
In addition, it is possible to switch to shutdown operation with Iq = 50nA using the EN pin. Regarding shutdown operation, there are three versions to choose from:
・ V IN–V OUT complete cutoff: NC4650ZAxxx A E2S, NC4650ZAxxx C E2S
・ V OUT discharge (auto-discharge function): NC4650ZAxxx B E2S
・ V IN–V OUT pass-through (seamless pass-through function): NC4650ZAxxx D E2S
This product uses the ultra-compact WLCSP-6-ZA1 (1.3 x 0.92 x 0.4 mm) package, which is suitable for high-density mounting.

Features
The MODE pin switches between low current consumption mode and low ripple mode.
This product has a MODE terminal that allows you to switch between low current consumption normal mode and low ripple mode depending on the conditions of use.
In normal mode, the quiescent current is extremely low, enabling highly efficient power conversion (over 90%) to be achieved even at light loads (when VIN=3.0V, VOUT=3.3V, IOUT=0.01mA).
The low ripple mode has small ripple and improved load transient response, making it ideal for noise-sensitive systems.

Seamless pass-through function (NC4650ZAxxxDE2S)
This IC is available in a version with seamless pass-through function during shutdown operation.
The seamless pass-through function suppresses voltage fluctuations at the VOUT pin and backflow current to the SW pin during pass-through, while outputting the voltage at the VIN pin and SW pin directly to the VOUT pin.
When a "High" level control signal is input to the EN pin and the IC switches to shutdown operation, the output voltage begins to decrease due to the load.
When the voltage drops to the VIN pin voltage, the VIN pin voltage continues to be output.
