In recent years, the demand for cameras has increased in fields such as drones, medical equipment, and security applications, leading to an increased demand for CIS (CMOS Image Sensors) installed in camera modules.
There is a strong trend for CIS to operate at lower voltages in order to achieve high image quality with low power consumption, and the voltage regulator that drives the CIS is required to have a low voltage output and a stable power supply. In addition, since CIS is a device that is very sensitive to noise, low noise is also essential.
In order to solve these problems, we developed this product as a 2A high current LDO voltage regulator that can achieve a low output voltage of 0.4V. This product is fully compatible with CIS, which is becoming larger and larger as image quality improves.
The output noise voltage is 5μVrms (10Hz to 100kHz), and the ripple rejection rate is 50dB (1MHz) even at a heavy load of 1A, boasting ultra-low noise and high ripple rejection. In addition, it has a built-in function to limit the current at startup to a constant value, which makes it easy to suppress inrush current and control even when there are restrictions on the rising slew rate and slope of the power input of the downstream device.
Generally, the challenge in achieving a low output voltage is that the lower the input voltage, the higher the on-resistance of the power transistor (PMOS output type) and the greater the power loss. In this product, the power input terminal for the internal circuit (VBIAS) and the NMOS power transistor input terminal (VIN) are separated to achieve highly efficient regulation. In addition, the product is equipped with an NMOS power transistor with low on-resistance (90mΩ), which allows the input/output voltage difference to be kept extremely small at Typ. 180mV (Iout = 2A).
To reduce current consumption under light loads, the R8110 is available in two versions: one that automatically switches between high-speed and low-power modes according to the load current, and one that is fixed in high-speed mode and prioritizes responsiveness. It also has a built-in function that discharges the downstream capacitor when the R8110 is turned off using the enable terminal.
This product uses a DFN2020-8-GA (2.0 x 2.0 x 0.8 mm) package, which has a good balance between area and heat dissipation.
NR1644 Series DFN2020-8-GA (2.0 x 2.0 x 0.8 mm)
Features
Noise reduction capacitor (CNR) achieves high ripple rejection and low output noise voltage
This product is equipped with a noise reduction terminal (NR terminal). By connecting a noise reduction capacitor of 0.1 µF to 2.2 µF between the NR terminal and the GND terminal, a high ripple rejection rate and low output noise voltage can be achieved.
VIN pin ripple rejection rate
Output Voltage Noise
Soft start function
When a "High" level control signal is input to the EN pin of this product and the IC is turned ON, the soft-start time can be set by the capacitance of the CNR connected to the R pinandthe constant current (1mA) set within the IC.
