Release of the "NP4271" series of LDO voltage regulators with watchdog timer and output voltage upper and lower monitor reset function

For in-vehicle devices Ideal for functional safety applications, which are important in vehicles!

NP4271

In recent years, due to demands for automotive functional safety design, there has been an increase in electronic control applications that require the addition of voltage monitoring functions and redundant designs to ensure stable system operation and early detection of faults.
Along with this, there is an increasing demand for high accuracy in watchdog timers (WDTs) that externally monitor microcontrollers (MCUs) and output voltage monitor reset functions.

The NP4271 series contributes to system miniaturization by integrating a WDT with excellent time setting accuracy, a highly accurate output voltage upper and lower monitoring reset, and a 500mA output current LDO with excellent transient response characteristics into a single chip, making it possible to build systems with the stable operation and enhanced safety required for functional safety.

The LDO can operate with an input voltage of 4.0V to 40V, and is available in two output voltage variations, 3.3V or 5.0V. It is possible to meet a high accuracy of ±2.0% output voltage over a wide range of conditions (V IN = 6V to 40V, Io=5mA to 500mA, Ta=-40°C to 125°C).
There are two types of output voltage monitoring reset: A version that monitors both the low and high sides, and B version that monitors only the low side. The low side detection accuracy is V DETL  ± 2.0% (Ta=-40°C to 125°C), High side detection accuracy: V DETH  ± 5.0%(Ta=-40°C to 125°C).
The WDT time setting accuracy is high - WDT monitoring time: ±20% (Ta=-40°C to 125°C) and WDT reset time: ±20% (Ta=-40°C to 125°C), which contributes to improved system safety and greater flexibility in component selection.

Potential applications include automotive ECUs for headlights and air conditioning panels, and the quality grade of NP4271 is P grade for chassis/body control and cockpit systems.

Features

1. Highly stable and compact system with built-in output voltage upper and lower monitor function and WDT function

In automotive applications, the addition of voltage monitoring functions and redundancy designs is becoming more common for the purpose of ensuring stable system operation and quickly detecting faults.
By integrating functions, the NP4271 series not only improves system stability and safety, but also contributes to system miniaturization.

2. Excellent input transient response characteristics contribute to stable system operation

When multiple loads are connected to the power supply line VIN, the power supply line may fluctuate depending on the operating status of the loads, which may affect the output voltage.
The NP4271 series has good input transient characteristics and suppresses output voltage fluctuations, contributing to stable system operation.
