Automotive Power Management IC (Product Overview)
Infineon's OPTIREG™ PMIC automotive power management IC is an integrated power solution developed for automotive ECUs (Electronic Control Units) that require high reliability and safety, such as chassis, safety, ADAS, powertrain, and drivetrain components. It features efficient and reliable regulators, including pre-regulators, post-regulators, DC-DC converters, linear regulators, and trackers. Furthermore, it incorporates power monitoring, diagnostic, and fail-safe functions, enabling efficient functional safety design compliant with ISO 26262 and the development of overall ECU safety concepts.
Our product lineup includes "General Purpose PMICs" suitable for a variety of applications, as well as "Application Specific PMICs" specifically designed for ADAS, transmissions, and inverters. By integrating power supply configurations and functions tailored to the requirements of each application, we contribute to reducing the number of external components and design time.

Product lineup
Infineon offers a lineup of General Purpose PMICs that can be used for a variety of purposes, as well as Application Specific PMICs that are specialized for specific applications.
General Purpose PMIC
The General Purpose PMIC TLF35585 series is a general-purpose power management IC for automotive ECUs, integrating boost/buck pre-regulators, linear post-regulators, and linear trackers on a single chip. It supports functional safety design compliant with ISO 26262, and incorporates power monitoring, diagnostic, and fail-safe functions, enabling designs that cover everything from initial power-on to normal operation and anomaly detection, thus meeting the high safety requirements of automotive systems. It offers a flexible power configuration that supports a wide range of ECU designs without limiting applications, including engine control, transmission, battery monitoring, inverters, brakes, ADAS domain control, and electric power steering, and efficiently controls multiple power rails with a single device. By selecting the device according to the required output voltage and current capacity, it contributes to efficient power design and reduced component count.
Please refer to the following for details on the TLF35585 series lineup and differences in features.
Application Specific PMIC
The Application Specific PMIC series consists of automotive PMICs optimized for the power supply and safety requirements of various applications, such as ADAS, transmissions, and inverters. By integrating application-specific power supply configurations and functions onto a single chip, they reduce the number of external components, simplify design, and achieve high system reliability. For ADAS applications, they support stable power supply to processors and sensors with features such as buck pre-regulators, PoL power supplies, and boost/buck post-regulators. For transmissions and inverters, they integrate high voltage and high current capabilities, as well as power supply and monitoring functions necessary for motor control and rotational speed detection. Furthermore, because Application Specific PMICs pre-integrate the functions required for specific applications, they contribute to simplified circuit design and reduced design effort compared to General Purpose PMICs.
Furthermore, since our PMICs for transmissions and inverters are developed with functional safety design in mind, compliant with ISO 26262, you can confidently consider them even in applications requiring ASIL-D.
Please see below for details on the product lineup and differences in features.
Furthermore, since it is designed as a power management solution intended for use with Infineon's AURIX™ series of automotive microcontrollers, and because it can be supported as a set, we encourage you to consider it in conjunction with your automotive microcontroller to optimize your ECU design.
Application example / Block diagram
The following are just a few examples of applications, but Infineon's PMICs can be considered for a wide range of applications. In particular, they support a variety of applications that require high functional safety requirements, such as ECUs that support the basic functions of a vehicle, such as "driving, turning, and stopping," as well as ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems). The diagram will help you visualize how the PMIC is responsible for power supply, monitoring, and safety control in each ECU.
