For this reason, many people are using it, but we are sometimes asked, "Is there an effective way to extend the battery life of the SensorTag?"
In this article, we will introduce four ways to make the SensorTag's battery last longer, so please choose the method that suits your application.
- Extend the sensor data acquisition interval (Notification)
- Get only the data you need, when you need it (not using Notifications)
- get less data
- Powered by batteries larger than CR2032 batteries
Now let's introduce each of them!
1. Extend the sensor data acquisition interval (Notification)
It is possible to extend the acquisition interval up to 2.5s with the SensorTag app.
How to operate the app
- Tap the sensor data you want to widen the interval
- Select Configure Sensor
- Adjust the acquisition time (Tap the screen after adjustment to return to the original graph)

2. Get only the data you need, when you need it (not using Notifications)
It is possible with the standard app, but it must be calculated manually.
We recommend using a BLE Dongle for Linux, etc. to connect.
3. Get less data
It can be adjusted with the standard app. Delete unnecessary sensors by the following method.
(In particular, the 9-axis motion sensor consumes a lot of power, so I think it's the easiest to get the effect.)
How to operate the app
- Slide the unnecessary sensor item to the left
- Tap Delete
- No longer acquires sensors after the item disappears
4. Powered by batteries larger than CR2032 batteries
There is an external terminal for connecting batteries, so if you connect two AA or AAA battery Box there, you can operate it for a long time.
