Features of SMOD711

SMOD711 is an evaluation kit that can easily evaluate combustible gas sensor SGAS711 provided by Renesas (former IDT).
Gases that can be measured are hydrogen, methane, propane, LPG, natural gas, and Freon.

This evaluation kit has the following features:

JTAG for firmware writing, USB connector for communication with PC, and control microcomputer are installed in the total PCB area of 8.9cm².

 

・Because the power supply is controlled within the board unit, operation can be performed simply by supplying a 9VDC power supply.
・The control is preloaded with an operable program, so it can be operated without "setup required".
- Supports all modes for operating sensors (feedback heater control, temperature and sensor measurement sequences)
・Simple ASCII-based communication protocol enables communication with the host controller
・USB available

The SGAS711 is a solid-state chemical sensor designed to detect combustible gases in air.

The SGAS711 sensor contains a heater with highly sensitive MOx material suitable for the detection of combustible gases such as methane, propane, hydrogen and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Contents of the SMOD711 evaluation kit for out-of-the-box combustible gas evaluation

The SMOD711 evaluation kit can be connected to a Windows PC via a USB connection and can be viewed (graph display) and controlled by the provided software.

This evaluation kit can be evaluated immediately by following the steps below.

1. Install application software

Download the application software from the Renesas website and install it on your PC.
* Application software is free.

2. Set up your hardware

The SMOD711 is powered by the included AC adapter. Connect the USB cable to the user's PC.
Windows automatically detects the module and installs the virtual COM port driver.

3. Start the application software

You can use the application software to detect combustible gases and start evaluation.
