Overview of SMOD701

The SMOD701 is an evaluation kit that allows you to easily evaluate the hydrogen gas sensor SGAS701 provided by Renesas (formerly IDT).
This evaluation kit can measure hydrogen gas in air.

It also has the following features.

  • The evaluation kit is equipped with a sensor mounting socket, JTAG, USB connector, and control microcomputer. Therefore, evaluation can be performed immediately after connecting to a PC via USB.
  • Since the power supply is controlled by the evaluation board, operation can be performed simply by supplying 9VDC power from an external source.
  • An operable program is written in the control microcomputer at the time of shipment. So you can start evaluating right away with no setup required.
  • It supports all modes for operating sensors. (feedback heater control, temperature and sensor measurement sequences)
  • A simple ASCII-based communication protocol allows communication with a host controller.
  • Compatible with digital interfaces. Full speed USB standard.

Hydrogen gas sensor capable of detection from as little as 1 PPM

The hydrogen gas sensor SGAS701 can detect hydrogen concentration in the air.

High-sensitivity MOx material (metal oxide material) suitable for detecting hydrogen is used, and Renesas' unique technology utilizing physical adsorption and chemical adsorption achieves high accuracy and high reliability.

Therefore, it is suitable for industrial applications that require high reliability.

2. Set up your hardware

The SMOD701 is powered by the included AC adapter. Connect the USB cable to your PC.
