Introduction
A color image sensor acquires color information from the environment through filters of the three primary colors of light: red (R), green (G), and blue (B). Image signal processing is required to generate vivid color images from these three primary colors, and this processing is performed by an ISP (image signal processor).
Onsemi image sensor types
Color image sensor products are classified into two types.
・ Raw sensor: RGB Output the three primary colors of the image as raw data
・ SoCs sensor: Raw sensor + ISP All-in-one sensor with features
SoC sensors are limited to relatively low-resolution products for automotive products, and other than that, to realize a color camera Raw sensor and outside ISP Must be combined with functionality.
Barriers to realizing ISP functions
There are SoCs and processors equipped with ISP functions, but they require drivers and applications for image sensor control and image restoration, and the difficulty and man-hours of development are obstacles.
The AP1302 is a product of ONSEMI, the same company as the image sensor, and features easy connection and control. An evaluation kit and evaluation software are also available, so if you prepare a PC, you can immediately check the operation.
Preset function and operation check
Various functions and adjustments can be performed by combining registers, and frequently used settings are provided as presets.
You can easily try it with the evaluation software, and you can easily change the settings to make it original.
output resolution
You can freely change the output resolution of your ISP.

lastly
By having the ISP function in the AP1302, you can focus on application development and reduce the processing load in the later stages.
The AP1302 can easily realize ISP functions by using it in combination with preset settings prepared in advance and on-semi high-quality image sensors. You get a good quality image.
