Introducing the features of the Bluetooth®5 certified SoC, RSL10!

The RSL10 is a multi-protocol Bluetooth®5 certified System-on-Chip (SoC) designed for wearables and IoT. Offering the industry's lowest power consumption, the RSL10 extends battery life and enables advanced wireless features.
I will explain the four features of the RSL10.

  • Industry's lowest power consumption
  • high flexibility
  • Model numbers for automotive use and products with built-in antennas are available
  • Full evaluation kit

Industry's lowest power consumption

The RSL10 features very low transmit and receive power consumption and very low sleep power.

About 11.1mW [Peak Tx Current(0dBm)=8.9mA (1.25V VBAT)] at Tx (transmission),
About 7mW [Peak Rx Current=5.6mA (1.25V VBAT)] at Rx (receiving).

62.5nW in sleep mode.

The figure below compares the power consumption of each company's Bluetooth LE SoC products. The lower left of the graph and the smaller the circle, the lower the power consumption of the product.

[fig.1: Vertical axis = Tx power consumption, Horizontal axis = Rx power consumption, Circle size = Power consumption in deep sleep mode]

In addition, as shown in the figure below, it won first place with 1090 points in the EEMBC ULPMark, which is the lowest power consumption in the industry.

high flexibility

The RSL10 is flexible with different radio protocols and features a 2.4 GHz radio frequency front end (RFFE) and a Bluetooth 5 certified baseband controller supporting 2 Mbps data rates.

It also integrates LPDSP32 and ARM Cortex-M3 for increased processing power and flexibility.

It supports a power supply voltage of 1.1V to 3.3V and is also compatible with mesh networks.

Furthermore, since it supports Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) updates, there is no need to connect connectors when updating the RSL10's firmware.

Model numbers for automotive use and products with built-in antennas are available

The RSL10 is available in the automotive model number NCV-RSL-10. The QFN48 (Wettable Flank-Plated QFN) package supports AEC-Q100 Grade2 and PPAP.

We also offer RSL10 SIP, a SIP package product with a built-in antenna.

RSL-10 SIP is a product that has already acquired MIC (Japan Technical Conformity Certification), so there is no need for customers to acquire it again.

The product classification of RSL10 is shown in the figure below.

Full evaluation kit

RSL10 can provide software development environment (SDK), Bluetooth protocol stack, sample code, library, documentation, mesh package, etc.

Several types of evaluation boards are also available.

There are many applications for sensor technology, from wearables that detect a runner's heart rate to environmental sensors that measure moisture levels in fields of crops.

Also, most of these devices run on small batteries, so optimizing power consumption is an important point.
