Features of "ATWINC3400" that can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously
The ATWINC3400 is an ultra-compact network controller module from Microchip.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (BLE) can be realized with one antenna.
The physical space of many IoT peripherals is limited.
Supporting multiple radios, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (BLE) antenna placement, is challenging.
Microchip's ATWINC3400 network controller module achieves coexistence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (BLE) by solving mutual interference through internal circuitry.
ATWINC3400 has the following features:
1. Realization of coexistence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
2. One antenna by coexistence! Significant reduction in the number of parts
3. Compatible with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, which is the most widely used
4. Built-in SPI interface
5. Temperature range is -40~85℃ Can be used for industrial applications
Each feature is explained below.
1. Realization of coexistence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Interference is avoided by controlling RF isolation between adjacent bands and coordination within the same band.
Therefore, it can be used in environments where reliability is required.
2. 共存化によりアンテナを一つに!部品点数を大幅に削減
The size of ATWINC3400 is "22.43mm x 14.73mm x 2.0mm". Antenna is also built in here.
By coexisting and using one antenna, the number of peripheral components can be greatly reduced. It can greatly contribute to securing physical space and reducing BOM.
3. Compatible with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, which is the most widely used
Wi-Fi supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, which is the most widely used. Networking products is easy with the ATWINC3400.
4. Built-in SPI interface
The ATWINC3400 has an SPI interface. Therefore, it is possible to extend the wireless function by connecting to the microcomputer of the existing system.
5. Temperature range is -40~85℃ Can be used for industrial applications
It can be used outdoors for industrial applications, especially -40°C.
Development kit for evaluating the ATWINC3400
An expansion board "ATWINC3400-XPRO" is available to facilitate development. This expansion board can be debugged by connecting to the "Xplained Pro Platform".
Here are the steps to get started with the platform:
1. Install Atmel Studio
Download Atmel Studio here
http://www.microchip.com/avr-support/atmel-studio-7
2. Launch Atmel Studio
When the Xplained Pro MCU Kit is connected to your computer for the first time, the operating system will automatically install the driver software. This driver is for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012.
3. Start evaluation
When power is supplied to the Xplained Pro MCU board, the power LED (green) will light up and Atmel Studio will automatically detect the specific Xplained Pro MCU and expansion boards connected.
The Atmel Studio kit landing page provides Atmel START sample application code for the Atmel Software Framework (ASF).
No other program or debugger tools are required as the target device is programmed and debugged by the on-board embedded debugger.
Application example
- fitness monitor
- wearable electronics
- smartphone
- Low power system for Internet of Things (IoT)
- gateway
