CoolSiC™ MOSFET 1200V Series Product Overview
Infineon's CoolSiC™ MOSFET 1200V series adopts Silicon Carbide (SiC) to achieve high performance, high efficiency and high robustness with less energy as the world's energy demand increases. . The use of silicon carbide allows the product to operate at higher voltages, achieve higher switching frequencies, and improve heat dissipation due to its high thermal conductivity. The CoolSiC™ MOSFET 1200V series reduces switching losses by up to 80% compared to IGBTs, and even with dv/dt similar to IGBTs, a 50% loss reduction can be achieved. A major difference from IGBTs is that this switching loss is independent of temperature.

What is CoolSiC™ MOSFET?
Silicon Carbide MOSFETs from Infineon are called CoolSiCTM MOSFETs. Silicon Carbide (SiC) offers designers new flexibility to achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency and reliability. Compared to conventional silicon-based (Si) high-voltage switches and IGBTs, CoolSiCTM can reduce switching loss by approximately 80% and conduction loss by up to 50%, depending on load conditions. This significantly reduces operating costs with inverter efficiency levels exceeding 99%. Certain SiC properties allow implementation of comparable or better switching frequency manipulation. CoolSiC™ MOSFET devices can also reduce system cost by increasing power density.
