This is Sasaki in charge of power supply dock technology.

In this column, I would like to introduce some examples of problems related to power supplies that I encountered multiple times during various customer support sessions.

Take a short break this time.

I would like to introduce to you the “lessons” that I have learned in my daily life.

learn from nature

In my apartment, there is a routine scene in the spring.

It's a swallow's nest.

Around the end of May every year, swallows come and build their nests, and in June, their young leave the nest.

It's been a secret pleasure for me to watch this state of affairs.

I wonder if the one who comes to build the nest every year is one of the young swallows that left here? When I looked into it, I was a little surprised to find that the male parent birds return every year to nest in the same place.

After reading this far, I think many people think that it looks like fun, but actually it is not only fun, but cleaning up swallow droppings is very hard work ^^;

Also, sometimes you encounter shocking events.

Last year, the chicks grew too big, and the nest fell down in the middle of the night, which was a disappointing result. .

A case where a problem occurred due to falling solder (Column #7)

reminds me of

But nature is strong.

The parent birds immediately built a new nest and let the young nest successfully.

At this time, I was trying to fix the broken nest and use it, but I realized that it collapsed and it didn't go well, so I built a new nest.

"That's right, Tsubame-san. When things don't go well, sometimes it's better to start over."

The same can be said at work.

replace it with work

When a customer's board has many problems, it may be possible to correct the problem by changing or adding circuit constants without revising the board, but in many cases, the problem lies in the layout, and the board needs to be revised.

A case where a problem occurred due to the placement of parts (Column No. 9)

In such a case, do you think, ``My priority is to meet the mass production schedule!'' and start mass production only by changing constants, and then the same problem occurs again?

Time and cost are also important, but in order not to cause problems later, I think it would be better to revise the board in such a case. It's not a waste of time, it's "necessary effort and time".

Just like a swallow's parent bird quickly building a new nest, if you start revising the board immediately, you won't waste time.

Stop as soon as you realize you can't do it, and then put all your effort into it!

It was an episode that Tsubame taught me that.

Later story

This year, the chicks left the nest in early June.

Just when I was thinking, "See you next year," a new parent bird came over last week.

This parent bird is doing its best to renovate the nest that was left in a broken state and raising its children.

Reusing old things is also important.

I hope this chick leaves the nest well too.
