Introducing effective measures to protect "externally disclosed assets," which is the number one intrusion route for ransomware attacks.

The National Police Agency has released data showing that damage to Japanese companies caused by ransomware, which has been rapidly increasing recently, shows that about 80% of the attacks are caused by external public assets such as VPN devices and RDP.
In particular, unidentified assets cannot be implemented with security measures and become easy targets for attackers, so make sure to accurately understand all of your company's externally disclosed assets and continue to address vulnerabilities and risks. We need to proceed accordingly.

The concept of identifying and dealing with externally exposed assets targeted by these attackers is defined as Attack Surface Management (ASM), and awareness of ASM is spreading especially since the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry published ASM implementation guidance on May 29, 2023.
