While thinking about the necessary terminal management in such a GIGA school concept, I would like to explain in an easy-to-understand manner the measures for that and the key points of choosing a solution.
Terminals introduced in large numbers, management pitfalls that tend to be forgotten
In the GIGA school concept, the standard specifications for the terminals for learners and the maintenance of the school LAN are exemplified, and it is considered to be able to develop the ICT environment according to the exemplified specifications to some extent, but ICT is used. However, the reality is that there are no examples of specific measures for operation and management. Therefore, it is necessary to think about how to utilize ICT by referring to the guidelines while keeping in mind the creation of an environment that is conscious of operation.

If these settings have to be done one by one, it is easy to imagine that it will take a lot of time and effort just to create an environment where the terminals can be used. In order to avoid this, it is necessary to prepare an environment in which OS settings and application distribution can be automated.

The content of the classes varies depending on the grade, class, and subject, and it is natural that the applications used will differ each time. Take the search engine, for example. Sometimes you want students to use it conveniently as a way to access information on their own. YouTube, a video site that many children now see, can be used as useful information in some cases, but it can also be expected to interfere with classes. Depending on what kind of class you are doing, even one application needs to be used properly. That is why it is important to be able to flexibly control the terminal environment, such as restricting applications according to the learning situation. Of course, it is essential to have a mechanism that can detect inappropriate usage in class and automatically deal with it.
