What is Enterprise SONiC distribution by Broadcom?
Introduction
Generative AI has been evolving remarkably in recent years, but supporting it requires not only massive GPU resources, but also a much broader network infrastructure than currently exists.
If this can be achieved using high-performance network equipment and comprehensive support is available from the vendor, it can be said to be a major advantage in terms of operation.
In this article, we will introduce Enterprise SONiC distribution by Broadcom (hereinafter referred to as Broadcom SONiC), which we have recently started handling.

About Broadcom SONiC
Broadcom SONiC is a commercial network operating system based on the Community version of SONiC, which Broadcom has developed to enhance functionality and robustness for high-bandwidth networks such as data centers (DCs), and is currently being introduced in Japan.
By combining it with a white Box switch equipped with Broadcom ASIC, you can enjoy benefits such as end-to-end support from the vendor and the use of uniquely implemented enhancement functions.
For an overview of Broadcom, please see this webpage.

A complete, comprehensive solution
The software used in Broadcom SONiC includes components developed and provided exclusively by Broadcom (shown in red in the diagram below), making it one of the company's attractions the ability to receive comprehensive support from a single vendor.
Broadcom is also a contributor to the Community version of SONiC and has extensive knowledge of SONiC. This allows support for the entire SONiC platform to be provided by a single vendor, helping to reduce the time required to resolve operational issues and problems.
Functionality implementation for DC and AI fabric applications
Broadcom SONiC offers multiple packages depending on your application.
An Enterprise package is available for DC and an AI package is available for AI Fabric, each of which supports the following functions:
Enterprise Package
・Underlay function: eBGP, ZTP, QoS, ACL etc.
・Overlay function: BGP EVPN, VXLAN etc.
