Enterprise SONiC by Broadcom
SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) is an open source network operating system developed primarily by Microsoft.
Enterprise SONiC by Broadcom is a commercial version of SONiC that is based on the open source SONiC and has been enhanced and robustly built by Broadcom.
It achieves the high performance and reliability required in data centers and large-scale networks, enabling flexible network operation.
Features
Macnica will work alongside customers from before the introduction of white Box switches to providing support after the introduction.
We utilize the experience we have gained over many years in providing technical support for Broadcom's Ethernet semiconductors to contribute to highly reliable network operation by responding quickly when a failure occurs and preventing risks before they occur.
1. Peace of mind with Broadcom commercial support
Although it is based on the open source SONiC, Broadcom has enhanced its enterprise features and puts in place a support system, so you can deploy it in a production environment with confidence.
2. Multi-vendor compatibility and high compatibility
Supports a wide range of white Box switches from major vendors, including Accton, Micas, and Ufispace, from 1G to 800G.
In particular, switches equipped with Broadcom ASICs (such as the Tomahawk series) can be optimized at the hardware level by tuning to maximize the performance of the chip.
3. Wide range of package configurations
Flexible network design is possible with package configurations tailored to various use cases, such as data centers and campus applications.
4. Complete support
Broadcom provides consistent support for all layers involved in the operation of network devices, from hardware to software, helping to improve troubleshooting and operational efficiency.
5. Compatibility and operability for commercial use
Compatibility with transceivers and cables has been verified, ensuring stable operation in commercial environments.
It supports the industry standard CLI (Cisco-like commands), allowing for smooth implementation and operation by utilizing existing operational know-how.
Support Features
In addition to the basic functions provided by the open source SONiC, Enterprise SONiC by Broadcom adds many advanced functions and operational support functions required for commercial use.
In particular, the "Enterprise_Advanced Package" has enhanced functionality to support underlay/overlay configurations in data centers, and also includes Broadcom's unique enhanced features.
As an example, below is a list of the main features supported by the package in version 4.4.2, released in 2025:
Product packaging information
Enterprise SONiC by Broadcom offers multiple packages to address a variety of use cases, including data centers, campuses, and AI fabrics.
