How to use generative AI to quickly and independently utilize internal data

Generative AI such as "ChatGPT" has expanded business possibilities. However, integrating it with in-house data and fully applying it to business operations requires overcoming the barriers of specialized knowledge and cost. One service that could change this situation is "Box Enterprise Advanced." Macnica, a technology trading company involved in cybersecurity, was one of the first to adopt it and verify its effectiveness. What are its effects?

Since the launch of "Chat GPT" at the end of 2022, generative AI has quickly become a global phenomenon. Many people have taken notice of its novelty and ease of use, being able to use it in natural language, and an increasing number of business people are using generative AI for research and idea generation.

Today, it is no longer limited to personal use, but entire organizations are exploring ways to utilize it to improve work efficiency and create new businesses. There is a growing trend to use "RAG" (Search Augmentation and Generation) to enable companies to use generative AI to handle their own data, and to use "AI agents" to realize user-friendly functions.

However, using this technology to expand the capabilities of generative AI requires a certain level of skill and know-how, so only a select few companies with IT engineers knowledgeable about AI have been able to reap the benefits. Regarding this situation, Macnica 's Keigo Tamaki (General Manager of IT Infrastructure Management, Global IT Management Division, IT Headquarters) says, "the Company have been using cloud AI services to verify the technology since shortly after RAG was released. We are fortunate to have many AI engineers in-house, which has made this possible, but it may be difficult for companies without specialized personnel to do something similar on their own. That said, relying on external vendors would run the risk of vendor lock-in."

Various vendors offer "low-code/no-code development tools" that make it easier to handle RAGs and AI agents, but using them effectively still requires a certain level of skill, so they remain a high hurdle for many companies.
