Macnica and Unitree begin collaboration to jointly explore and market-deploy physical AI solutions.

Macnica Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter Macnica) today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly study and market the Physical AI solution in the Japanese market by combining the humanoid and quadruped robots developed by YuShu TECHNOLOGY CO. (Unitree), a leading global provider of humanoid and quadruped robots, and , a leading-edge technology and solution provider, today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly study and develop Physical AI solutions in the Japanese market.

■Background/purpose
Amidst a worsening population decline and labor shortage, there are high expectations for the use of robotics, including humanoid robots, as one solution. However, in order to determine whether they have reached a level where they can actually be used in the field, practical verification using actual machines is essential, rather than just theoretical considerations.
However, when user companies conduct technical verification themselves, it is necessary to improve robotics such as humanoids into a form that can be used in real environments through data collection from robots, reinforcement learning using simulation environments, and actual machine verification. However, it is currently difficult and not easy to promote a series of initiatives such as building a verification environment and securing specialized personnel on one's own.

Unitree is a robotics manufacturer with a proven track record in developing humanoid and quadruped robots, and is leading the world in the development of Physical AI, leveraging its mass production capabilities and cost competitiveness. Meanwhile, Macnica has accelerated social implementation in the robotics field by providing hardware ranging from learning and inference platforms to edge AI, as well as a technology verification and development platform that provides integrated support for data collection, simulation, AI learning, and actual machine verification. This allows them to support robotics projects from proof of concept (PoC) to actual operation, which would be difficult to build alone.
Macnica and Unitree have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a view to a long-term collaborative relationship, leveraging the strengths of both companies to explore new possibilities for the social implementation of Physical AI in the Japanese market.

- Building a Physical AI platform that replicates real-world environments.
Macnica has previously provided service solutions that include building a Physical AI verification platform that links digital twins with actual machines, and providing technical support for using it. By combining this service solution with new Unitree humanoid robots and quadruped robots, we will realize the construction of a more comprehensive Physical AI platform.
• Data-driven Sim2Real verification and practical technical support
Starting with data collected from actual robots, Macnica consistently handles everything from building digital twins and generating data through simulations to fine-tuning and training AI models, and even verifying whether the models operate as simulated on the actual robots. In addition, we accumulate knowledge with technical support from Unitree and provide practical technical support that replicates an environment closer to the customer's actual site.

Unitree and Macnica will accelerate the adoption of Physical AI in the Japanese market through joint marketing activities.
