Macnica provides Norinchukin Bank with mxHERO "Mail2Cloud" to help it move away from PPAP - Box integration automatically converts attachments into URLs, achieving both security and efficiency while maintaining the same user experience -

Macnica (Head office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) provided The Norinchukin Bank (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and CEO: Taro Kitabayashi) with mxHERO "Mail2Cloud" as a solution to move away from PPAP, helping the bank to implement measures against erroneous transmissions and internal fraud risks and improve auditability without compromising usability.

■ Background of introduction
Following the government's policy to move away from PPAP and the publication of the "Cybersecurity Guidelines in the Financial Sector," The Norinchukin Bank began reviewing its email operations. As a financial institution, it urgently needed to take effective measures against serious risks such as emails being sent by mistake or personal information being taken out due to internal fraud. The Norinchukin Bank began to specifically consider a new file transfer system, assuming the use of a cloud infrastructure centered on Box.

The deciding factor for adopting mxHERO
The most important requirement for the selection was "not changing user operations." mxHERO allows users to simply attach a file and send it via email as usual. The attachment is automatically uploaded to Box, a linked storage service, and the recipient receives only a shared link from Box. Furthermore, Box keeps access logs, ensuring auditability and traceability, and minimizing the impact of sending an email by mistake. This enhanced security without sacrificing user convenience was highly evaluated, leading to its adoption. Furthermore, there is no need to individually distribute or configure the Outlook add-in; instead, centralized configuration by the administrator allows for company-wide use. This enabled rapid implementation and stable operation, even in an environment with approximately 7,500 users across the group.

■Effects of implementation
After the implementation, the move away from PPAP took root without any confusion both inside and outside the company, and the elimination of manual work such as sending follow-up emails containing passwords also contributed to improving daily work efficiency. In the unlikely event that an email is sent to the wrong person, the extent of the impact can be accurately determined based on Box logs, and a system can be used to revoke shared links, allowing for swift action. In addition, by creating a system that automatically issues different shared links for each recipient and CC, it has become easy to identify the access logs for each recipient. These measures have simultaneously strengthened security and improved productivity.
