Macnica and Yokohama Sports Association sign comprehensive partnership agreement to promote the health of Yokohama residents - Strengthening joint measures to weave a healthy future for the region -

Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter Macnica) and Yokohama Sports Association, a public interest incorporated foundation (location: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Chairman: Yamaguchi Hiroshi; hereinafter "Yokohama Sports Association") announced today that they have concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement to strengthen collaboration and cooperation in promoting the health and extending healthy lifespan of Yokohama residents and to actively promote collaborative efforts.

As we age, our physical strength and cognitive function decline, and if appropriate measures are not taken, there is a risk of a shortened healthy lifespan. There is concern that the number of frail citizens, who are at risk of having a shorter healthy lifespan, is potentially increasing as the aging society progresses. Exercise plays an extremely important role in preventing frailty, but the rate of people in their 60s and 70s in Yokohama who participate in sports at least once a week has been declining since fiscal year 2020*1. Yokohama City has made frailty prevention one of the themes it must address in its health promotion efforts.

Macnica In the field of frailty prevention, based on evidence from epidemiological studies conducted by Professor Emeritus Kumagai of Kyushu University, MEDINET, Inc. has developed a solution that enables simple and objective assessment of the frailty status of the elderly and offers MAQUP＊2 , which supports improvement of the frailty status and maintenance of health. Together with the Yokohama Sports Association, we have supported the health promotion activities of a total of more than 1,500 Yokohama citizens by holding regular exercise classes that are expected to improve and prevent frailty, and by measuring frailty in familiar places.

To further promote these initiatives, Macnica and the Yokohama Sports Association have signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on citizen health promotion and will expand programs that enable as many Yokohama residents as possible to continuously work on improving their health in the communities where they live.

(1) Matters related to the promotion of health and the resolution of health issues for citizens
(2) Creation of sports opportunities and health services at sports facilities
(3) Revitalizing local communities through sports
(4) Data collection and new program development to solve health issues
(5) Information on various facilities and sports, and public relations regarding health promotion

As the first initiative after the partnership agreement is signed, we will hold the following frailty prevention classes and events. We also plan to strengthen our activities in the future, such as measurement projects at local community events.

[Schedule of frailty prevention classes and events]
(1) Frailty checks at events:
Frailty and physical fitness testing booths will be set up at the “Reopening Event” to be held at Tsuzuki Sports Center (April 19) and Seya Sports Center (April 27).

(2) Regular frailty checks:
Frailty and physical fitness tests are held once every three to six months at sports centers in 12 wards of the city managed and operated by the Yokohama Sports Association. This is an opportunity to check the physical condition of yourself and your family, so please visit your nearest sports center.
