Due to COVID-19, the elderly are living at home, and the deterioration of their daily functions has become noticeable, and each municipality is promoting health promotion and frailty prevention. Katsuyama City is focusing on frailty prevention projects to prevent elderly people from needing nursing care and to support them so that they can lead independent daily lives in the community. About 40 people between the ages of 65 and 80 spent eight months using Zoom to remotely enjoy themselves while doing exercises that support stable walking and physical strength improvement, as well as brain training.
During the period, participants checked their frailty status once every three months. Comparing the results in July last year before participating in the class and in December after exercising for five months, the percentage of those judged to be non-frail increased by about 20%, and the percentage judged to be frail or pre-frail decreased. Did. In addition, many of the participants showed improvements in their grip strength and 5m walking, and we were able to experience changes in the amount of exercise and ease of body movement.
