Energy Up Class" in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture ~ Introducing the frailty prevention program MAQUP (Makeup) provided by Macnica and Nice Mets. Aiming to extend healthy life expectancy
Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture (Mayor: Mizukami Mikio, hereinafter Katsuyama City), Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara Kazumasa, hereinafter Macnica), and NiceMets Inc. (headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kumagai Shuzo, hereinafter NiceMets) announced today that they held a frailty prevention project in Katsuyama City called "Fresh! Fresh! Genki Up Class," which utilizes the frailty prevention program MAQUP provided by Macnica, and that as a result, the proportion of people who are not frail increased by approximately 20%.
Due to COVID-19, the elderly are living at home, and the deterioration of their daily functions has become noticeable, and each municipality is promoting health promotion and frailty prevention. Katsuyama City is focusing on frailty prevention projects to prevent elderly people from needing nursing care and to support them so that they can lead independent daily lives in the community. In the medium to long term, we aim to curb the increase in the number of people requiring nursing care and nursing care insurance costs. As one of these efforts, from July 2022, we held a frailty prevention project, “Fure! Fure!
MAQUP is provided by Macnica and was developed by combining the evidence-based knowledge of epidemiological research conducted by Kyushu University Professor Emeritus Akizo Kumagai, a pioneer in frailty research, with Macnica 's data usage and AI know-how. This is a frailty prevention service. By answering six questions online, we can detect frailty at an early stage and provide an exercise program aimed at maintaining health and improving frailty.
In this exercise class, based on MAQUP, we aimed to extend healthy life expectancy by conducting frailty checks, measuring physical fitness, explaining the results, and providing exercise interventions for the elderly. About 40 people between the ages of 65 and 80 spent eight months using Zoom to remotely enjoy themselves while doing exercises that support stable walking and physical strength improvement, as well as brain training.
During the period, participants checked their frailty status once every three months. Comparing the results in July last year before participating in the class and in December after exercising for five months, the percentage of those judged to be non-frail increased by about 20%, and the percentage judged to be frail or pre-frail decreased. Did. In addition, many of the participants showed improvements in their grip strength and 5m walking, and we were able to experience changes in the amount of exercise and ease of body movement.
