Rakuten Baseball, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Rakuten Baseball, headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; representative: Representative Director and President Tachibana Yozo), which operates the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, and Macnica (hereinafter referred to as Macnica, headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; representative: Representative Director and President Kazumasa Hara), a total service/solution provider in semiconductors, networks, cybersecurity and AI/IoT, are pleased to announce that they have provided Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi (location: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture), the home ground of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, with an AI-based body surface temperature detection solution manufactured by IEI Integration.

According to the WHO, COVID-19 (COVID-19) affected 104 million people worldwide as of February 4 and is still raging around the world.
In Japan Japan, although the state of emergency has been lifted by the government, rapid changes in social structures such as new lifestyles are required amid the infection situation that varies from region to region. In addition, it is an issue to implement appropriate infectious disease countermeasures in all sports management situations around the world and how to smoothly manage competitions safely and securely.
At Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi, we are taking the utmost care to prevent infection, such as restricting admission and use, and measuring the temperature and hand disinfection of all visitors when entering and re-entering the stadium so that they can operate and watch baseball and other events in the same safe and secure manner.

Therefore, Rakuten Baseball and Macnica have decided to use IEI Integration's AI body surface temperature detection solution as the first step in an effort to further revitalize Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi Smart Stadium and improve visitor satisfaction. This solution uses AI and infrared thermography to instantly detect body surface temperature (with an error of ±0.3 degrees) even when wearing a hat or mask. By recognizing and measuring the human face, the possibility of false detection is reduced and detection is possible in less than one second. In addition, the system can detect the body surface temperature of up to 30 people at the same time and keep a log of the detection, making it an ideal solution for events and sports management at large venues.
In a demonstration experiment conducted in December 2020, the system detected more than 3,000 people without stopping the flow of people because it was no longer necessary to stop people to be measured. This result not only contributed to reducing the risk of coronavirus infection among visitors, but also demonstrated that the system ensured social distancing between the person measuring and the person being measured, improved visitor satisfaction, and contributed to smooth event management.
Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi will be using this solution to measure body surface temperatures at official first-division games this season.

Rakuten Baseball and Macnica will continue to discuss technical collaboration in various fields as technology partners to further revitalize the smart stadium and improve visitor satisfaction. Furthermore, in addition to creating an environment that takes into account COVID-19 prevention measures, we also hope to contribute to revitalizing the local area in the year marking the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
