Texas Instruments TLV4172IPWR: Will it damage if voltage is applied to the inputs (IN+, -) while the op amp's V+, V- (power supply) is not powered?
The TLV4172IPWR has a built-in input protection diode, which may be damaged under the following conditions.
(1) Exceeding the absolute maximum rating range of (V–)–0.5 to (V+)+0.5
(2) Regarding (1), if voltage is applied to the inputs (IN+, -) when V+ and V- (power supply) are off, current will flow through the protection diode. If this current is 10mA or more, there is a risk of damage. As a countermeasure, it is recommended to insert a resistor.
Protection diodes are built in for ESD protection. This is a measure against surges and static electricity.
Please note that it may cause damage depending on the usage conditions.
