Texas Instruments BQ78350-R1: What is the protection function AFE ALERT OVRD Protection?
First, AFE monitors each pack (or cell) and maintains the status of each pack. The AFE's ALERT output is the logical sum (OR) of the pack's Fault-Status.
However, the ALERT does not include the Fault signal output by the pack. Therefore, the Fault signal output by the pack and the AFE ALERT output can be ORed. This is expressed as [Override].
Since the BQ78350-R1 and AFE are communicating via SMBus, each pack can be judged/controlled. is the ALERT that is output. This is expressed as [OVRD_Protection].
