Silicon Labs CP210x: Why is the VCP driver ver.6.7.6 not compatible with Windows 10?
Windows 10 will be supported by the Universal Windows Driver.
The conventional VCP driver (v.6.7.x, etc.) used in Windows 7/8/8.1 is a driver intended for use on desktop or notebook PCs. Derivative OS based on Windows 7/8/8.1 (eg for Mobile, POS, etc.) was not supported.
On the other hand, the universal driver is the latest driver specification established by Microsoft, and it is a specification that assumes operation on the Windows 10 platform (including derivative OS). By providing a universal driver, the range of use of the CP210x is expanded.
The latest universal driver is available from the Silicon Labs website.
