Both the BGM12x and BGM11S use the same SIP package and are very small at 6.5mm x 6.5mm. The footprint and pin arrangement are compatible products. As a difference, BGM12x is not covered with a metal shield and BGM11S is covered with a metal shield.

For FCC, ISEDC, and South Korea, where being covered with a metal shield is a condition for acquiring module certification, BGM11S has been able to acquire module certification. BGM12x without a shield is subject to limited module certification or pre-certification.
