Silicon Labs Si106x/8x: How many clock pins are there, what are they used for?

The Si106x/108x have three sets of clock input pins. Uses are as follows.

  • XIN, XOUT: Clock for wireless IC
  • XTAL1, XTAL2: High-speed clock for MCU
  • XTAL3, XTAL4: Low-speed clock for MCU (32kHz)

A wireless IC clock is absolutely necessary.
As for the clocks for the MCU, high-speed clocks of 24.5MHz, 20MHz and low-speed clocks of 40kHz are built in, so if there are no problems with the frequency and accuracy, there is no need to supply clocks from the outside.
