• Misconfiguration of pins and peripherals (conflicts, etc.) can be prevented

There is an advantage.

The EFM32 allows you to select the I/O paths of the built-in peripherals from multiple I/O pins so that you can use the limited I/O pins efficiently. This high degree of freedom is of course an advantage, but on the other hand, there is a risk of unintended pin conflicts due to incorrect settings.
Also, setting functions without fully understanding the internal configuration of the MCU may similarly cause resource conflicts. For example, "OPAMP" occupied as an output stage when using "DAC", and "ACMP" occupied as an input stage when using "LESENSE".
