I am estimating power consumption with Diamond's Power Calculator. What do "Calculation" and "Estimation" in the upper right of the window mean?
Category: Power consumption
Tool: Diamond, Radiant
device:-
"Calculation" mode estimates power based on the number of used resources extracted from the placement and routing results (netlist) of the implemented design. On the other hand, the "Estimation" mode allows an early design estimate without a netlist, but the number of each resource used must be entered by the designer. The former faithfully reflects the netlist, especially for routing resources, but the latter is roughly calculated according to the number of input resources.
If you launch the Power Calculator after placing and routing, it will automatically enter "Calculation" mode, but if you edit or change the number of resources, it will switch to "Estimation mode". If so, you can undo it with "Revert to Calculation Mode" in the Edit menu).
