It is recognized by the ANC data flags (ADF, 0x000-0x3ff-0x3ff), not the position.
As long as the ADF is placed, the VPID byte data can be extracted and the specific line number will be registered and output as the line found VPID on the rx_line_f0, rx_line_f1 signals.

The IP core extracts the VPID for incorrect line numbers as well as for correct ones when ADF is detected.
