When using Shift Register (RAM-Based) in the combination of Quartus II Ver.11.0 and Cyclone III,
Warning: Assertion warning: Device family Cyclone III does not have M4K blocks -- using available memory blocks
will occur.

You can avoid this by editing ***.vhd/v generated at Generate with MegaWizard Plug-In Manager.
1. Open the generated Shift Register.vhd/v design in an editor.
2. Find "lpm_hint ⇒ "RAM_BLOCK_TYPE=M4K"".
3. Edit and save from "M4K" to "M9K".
After editing ⇒ lpm_hint ⇒ "RAM_BLOCK_TYPE=M9K"
4. Compile.

In addition, it has already been improved in ver11.1.
