With the Nios II software program in ROM on the target board, is it possible to do "printf" debugging on the Nios II IDE console via JTAG UART?
Nios II
It is possible to do printf debugging on the Nios II IDE console.
Here are the steps:
- Highlight any project in the Nios II IDE (even non-ROMized projects).
- Select Run from the Run menu in the Nios II IDE.
- Select the Debugger tab from the launched Run window, check Attach to existing program on target (no download) or Reset and execute from reset vector (no download), and click the Run button.
- The ROMized program implemented on the target board is executed and prints a printf to the Nios II IDE Console via the JTAG UART.
