When I simulate in VHDL in ModelSim-Altera, I get the error message # ** Error: Failure to obtain a VHDL simulation license. What should I do. In addition, the license is within the expiration date, and the license for ModelSim-Altera has also been obtained.

* This phenomenon occurs only if you purchased the subscription program before March 8, 2009, and
This is for users using ver.6.3g_p1 or earlier versions.

If you get this error, you may not have a license for VHDL.

ModelSim-Altera can only run simulations in the language specified during license purchase and application. Make sure you are using the ModelSim-Altera license for VHDL.
To find out which language your license file supports, check the INCREMENT lines in your license file.
The strings are:
・ alteramtivsim ← License for VHDL
・ alteramtivlog ← License for Verilog HDL

As a workaround, if your license is still valid, please update your version of ModelSim-Altera. Ver.6.4a or later can be used in both languages (mixing is not possible). However, versions released within the month and year of the version number in the license file are available.

The following users do not experience such problems.
◆ Users who purchased a license for ModelSim-Altera Edition after March 9, 2009
◆ Users who purchased a subscription program before March 9, 2009 and are currently under license
When using ModelSim-Altera Edition ver.6.4a or later
◆ ModelSim-Altera Starter Edition users
