Can I analyze minimum, typical, and maximum delays in Timing Analyzer (Classic and TimeQuest)?

Quartus Prime Timing constraints/analysis

The Quartus II Timing Analyzer (Classic and TimeQuest) cannot verify typical values.
For maximum (worst case)/minimum (best case) timing analysis, refer to the timing analysis tool used below.

■Classic Timing Analyzer

By default, the Classic Timing Analyzer report results in the compilation report show the maximum value (worst case).

To display the minimum (best case) timing analysis results, follow the procedure below.
The devices that support best case timing analysis in the Classic Timing Analyzer are the APEX series, Cyclone series, HardCopy, Stratix series (excluding Stratix IV), and MAX series.

●Method 1 Display only the best case report

  1. After compiling, execute Processing menu ⇒ Start ⇒ Start Classic Timing Analyzer (Fast Timing Model).
  2. The Timing Analyzer report in the compilation report shows the best case analysis results.

●Method 2 Displaying both the best case and worst case reports

  1. Select Assignments menu ⇒ Timing Analysis Settings and select Classic Timing Analyzer Settings under Category.
  2. Click the More Settings button and set the "Report Combined Fast/Slow Timing" option to "On".
  3. Run a compile (or if a compile has already been run, go to Processing menu ⇒ Start ⇒ Start Classic Timing Analyzer).
  4. The Timing Analyzer report in the compilation report shows both Fast Model (best case) and Slow Model (worst case) timing analysis results.

■TimeQuest Timing Analyzer

The TimeQuest Timing Analyzer report results in the compilation report provides a summary of the timing analysis results and defaults to the maximum (worst case/slow-corner) values.

If you want to display the minimum (best case/fast-corner) timing analysis results, follow the steps below. Devices that support TimeQuest are the Arria series, Cyclone series, HardCopy II and later series, MAX II, and Stratix series.

  1. Select Assignments menu ⇒ Timing Analysis Settings and select TimeQuest Timing Analyzer from Category.
  2. Set the "Enable multicorner timing analysis during compilation" option to "On".
  3. Run a compile (or if a compile has already been run, go to Processing menu ⇒ Start ⇒ Start TimeQuest Timing Analyzer).
  4. The TimeQuest Timing Analyzer report in the compilation report provides a summary of timing analysis results for both Fast Model (best case) and Slow Model (worst case).

When performing detailed timing analysis with the TimeQuest Timing Analyzer, you can specify Fast-corner and Slow-corner delay models when generating the netlist for verification.
