Intel: Is there a way to deal with tight setup requirements for the input signal of MAX II?

MAX II does not have registers in the IOE, but it is possible to improve the timing conditions by using the registers in the LE like input registers.

The setting method uses the assignment editor to apply restrictions.

Launch Assignments ⇒ Assignment Editor from the Quartus II menu bar.
1. Register the input pin you want to specify in the To field
2. Select ”Fast I/O Register” from the pull-down menu in the Assignment Name field.
3. Select “On” from the pull-down menu in the Value column
4. Select “Yes” from the pull-down menu for the Enabled column

By imposing this constraint, it is possible to satisfy strict setup conditions by receiving the input signal once in the register inside the LE.
