Intel: What is the difference between the Abstract PHY used when simulating the External Memory Interface (EMIF) and the normal model?

IP simulation

Category: External memory interface
Tools: Quartus® Prime
Device: Arria® 10

Abstract PHY has the following differences compared to normal model.

  • Replaces the normal PHY-external memory path with a model that includes an internal memory array
  • Nios II processor disabled and replaced with HDL for simulation
  • Excludes the need for full-speed clock simulation events
