Intel: Does Qsys' SPI Core do SPI transfers by simply writing data to the txdata register? Do I need to manipulate the Slave Select (ss_n) signal?
Category: Qsys
Tools: Quartus® Prime / Quartus® II
device:-
Transfer is done automatically.
If the master/slave width settings are the same, there is no need to manipulate the ss_n signal.
Since there is a slaveselect register on the address map of SPI Core, this slaveselect selects the slave device that performs SPI communication when txdata is set.
The ss_n signal is automatically asserted/deasserted when set to the Master's txdata, so there is no need to intentionally manipulate it.
