CoolMOSTM P7's avalanche ruggedness is not as good as C6's, but it meets the application requirements well. All datasheets so far describe the mechanism of energy breakdown that occurs during avalanche operation, but this energy breakdown has not been reported for flyback topologies. With the introduction of CoolMOSTM P7, Infineon focuses on technical evaluation of CoolMOSTM P7's application-specific properties. Therefore, the current breakdown mechanism is listed on all datasheets.
