Analog Devices LTspice : Why do I check "This is an active load" when using an electronic load?
Since the current source "Load2" etc. is used as an electronic load, it will operate as a current source unless "This is an active load" is checked.
See Figure 1 for the difference. This is the simulation result by LTspice when Load2 is connected to the output of a step-down DC/DC converter called LT8610.
The left side is the result with check. Since the current (blue) is flowing after the green regulator output (green) starts to rise, you can see that Load2 is operating as a load.
The right side is the unchecked result. Since Load2 operates as a current source, current (blue) rises from the beginning and current flows into the output of the regulator. Therefore, the output of the regulator swings to a negative voltage (red circle).
