Analog Devices Switching Regulators: Why does changing the inductance value of the coil (inductor) used change the output current limit?

power management

A regulator IC with a fixed frequency current control architecture senses the inductor current to control the output voltage and load current. The inductor ripple current is given by ΔIL = (1/(f)*(L))*(VOUT)*(1-VOUT/VIN). If the current exceeds the set maximum inductor current, the current limit will be applied.
