TAICHUNG, TAIWAN - August 31, 2022 - Winbond Electronics Co., Ltd., a leading supplier of semiconductor memory, today announced that TUV NORD has announced automotive cybersecurity in compliance with the ISO/SAE 21434 “Road vehicle - Cybersecurity engineering” international standard. We announced that we were the first memory manufacturer in the world to acquire Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) certification.

ISO/SAE 21434 is an international standard for protecting and maintaining automobiles and their safety, specifying requirements for protecting in-vehicle systems from cyberattacks. This standard outlines the standards required during the concept, development, production, use and disposal stages of automotive systems. Many automakers and their component suppliers have made this standard mandatory to significantly improve how they manage cyberthreats. Applied to peripheral components such as microcomputers and interfaces that make up in-vehicle Electrical & Electronic (E/E) systems, the automotive industry must adopt devices that meet this standard and can provide the necessary protection against cyber threats. .

Matthias Springer, Senior Vice President, Functional Safety & Security, TUV NORD CERT, said: "With the implementation and certification of a cybersecurity management system according to ISO/SAE 21434, Winbond has achieved another significant mile in implementing a holistic security approach. We have achieved a stone, which we can highly recommend to all OEMs and suppliers in such a critical sector as automotive."

Winbond is the first memory manufacturer to obtain this CSMS certification. The company's TrustME(R) W77Q Secure Flash Memory has already achieved Common Criteria EAL2 and ISO26262 ASIL-C Ready certification from SGS Brightsight and SGS-TUV Saar. TrustME W77Q Secure Flash Memory has authoritative industry-recognized security and safety certifications, enabling it to simultaneously meet the emerging demands of safety and cybersecurity in automotive applications. In addition, code storage flash memories such as Serial NOR, QspiNAND, and OctalNAND are ISO26262 ASIL-B Ready certified.

In addition, Winbond provides the Winbond Product Longevity Program (WPLP) for automotive products that require long-term support, so that customers around the world can use it with peace of mind. .
