Main products
Video Interface IC
We carry two types of video interface ICs: DisplayPort IC and DisplayLink IC.
The DisplayPort standard uses the Multi-Stream Transport (MST) feature to enable multiple independent video streams to be output from a single DisplayPort.
It can transmit 4k60Hz x 2 screens uncompressed, or use compression/encoding to output higher resolutions or increase the number of outputs. Synaptics DisplayPort IC products have built-in protocol conversion from DisplayPort to HDMI and are compatible with a wide range of products, from video dongles and docking stations to solutions for monitors with DisplayPort output.
On the other hand, DisplayLink is a codec technology that compresses/encodes images with low latency and transmits them via USB, making it possible to easily output images to (multiple) displays by simply connecting to a PC (computer) via USB. DisplayLink ICs for embedded products provided by Synaptics are bridge ICs that bridge between USB, Ethernet, and video interfaces, and are compatible with a wide range of products, from USB2.0 single displays to 5K displays, USB3.0 docking, and wireless display solutions.
