Overview

HLS (Hi-speed Link System) is a high-speed field network with a 1-master:multiple-slave configuration.
It can connect up to 63 slave ICs and supports I/O control of up to 2,016 points (1,008 inputs + 1,008 outputs). The communication protocol is built into the IC.
The CPU can control numerous I/O operations simply by reading and writing to memory.

Features

• Ultra-high-speed control (up to 15 μs per node)
- Up to 63 nodes can be connected.
RS485-based multidrop communication
- Simple I/O control with reduced CPU load
- Analog control is also supported (when using units from partner manufacturers).
- Equipped with error detection and notification functions.

Network Specifications

Communication method HLS (Master/Slave Polling)
physical layer RS485
communication speed 12Mbps / 6Mbps / 3Mbps
Communication distance Maximum distance: 100m to 300m (depending on speed)
cable Shielded cable of Cat5 or higher
Maximum number of nodes 63 nodes
topology Bus configuration (tree and star configurations are possible when using a HUB)

response speed

In full-duplex communication mode, the following response speeds are achieved even with a maximum of 63 nodes connected.
12Mbps: 955.5μs
6Mbps: 1911μs
3Mbps: 3822μs
In half-duplex communication, the signal strength is approximately doubled.

Control method

The master IC contains the I/O registers for each slave.

- Input acquisition (Read): The CPU simply reads the memory of the master IC.
- Output control (Write): The CPU simply writes to the master IC's memory.

This allows you to control the I/O of each slave. Communication processing is automatically handled by HLS.

Error monitoring function

When a communication error occurs, you can check the following in the registers:

Additionally, the CHK1/CHK2 pins support LED display and interrupt notification.
Which slave was affected?
How many times did the error occur?

Network expansion

・Wiring extension
T-branch
Star wiring
It can handle the above and extend the communication range up to a maximum of 2,400m (3Mbps, 7-stage HUB configuration).
