Supports negative and high voltages (40V/80V)! High-precision current sense amplifier
ROHM Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Kyoto City) has developed the high-precision current sense amplifiers "BD1423xFVJ-C" and "BD1422xG-C," which comply with the automotive reliability standard AEC-Q100.
The "BD1423xFVJ-C", which uses a TSSOP-B8J package, supports an input voltage of +80V and is suitable for high-voltage environments such as DC-DC converters operated by 48V power supplies, redundant power supplies, auxiliary batteries, and electric compressors. Three models are available depending on the gain setting: "BD14230FVJ-C", "BD14231FVJ-C", and "BD14232FVJ-C".
Meanwhile, the "BD1422xG-C", which uses a small SSOP6 package, supports an input voltage of +40V and is ideal for automotive equipment that requires a space-saving design, such as current monitoring and protection (overcurrent detection) in 5V/12V-driven power supply networks used in the body and drive domains. Three models, "BD14220G-C", "BD14221G-C" and "BD14222G-C", are also available with different gain settings.
These new products achieve space saving by combining conventional op-amp circuit configurations that combine op-amps and discrete components into one package. Current detection is possible simply by connecting a shunt resistor. In addition, a two-stage amplifier configuration is adopted, combining a chopper amplifier in the input stage and an auto-zero amplifier in the subsequent stage. By matching the resistors that determine the gain accuracy inside the IC, stable current detection with a high accuracy of ±1% is possible while suppressing the effects of temperature changes.
In addition, the current detection accuracy is maintained even when an external RC filter circuit for noise suppression is installed, which also contributes to reducing design man-hours.
Furthermore, it has a negative withstand voltage of -14V and is compatible with back electromotive force, reverse connection, and negative voltage input.The lineup also includes +80V input voltage products that are compatible with 48V power supplies used in electric vehicles (xEVs), meeting the diverse needs of automotive applications.
